You know you're popping when you're getting calls left to right for jobs that you didn't apply for.

If you're like me, you probably know a few people like that and often wonder, “How in the hell do they do it?”

If you want to be that person who's getting recruited without even trying, here are a few ways you can get started:

1. Keep your LinkedIn updated

Thousands of companies are on LinkedIn and at times, recruiters on LinkedIn will reach out to people in their LinkedIn network with jobs. Now that you know that, it’s important that you keep your LinkedIn profile updated at all times.

You learned a new skill? Add it.

Got a promotion? Jot it down.

Just like you should be keeping your resume updated at all times, you should do the same for LinkedIn.

2. Stay connected

People that get recruited easily understand the importance of staying (and getting) connected with the right people. They know that a simple “just touching base” or “just saying hi” email doesn’t take a lot of effort, but goes a long way.

It’s crucial that you stay on top of people minds that are influencers in your area of interest and that are the “who’s who” in your industry.

Networking

3. Don’t make it hard for people to find you

The lucky people that keep getting “discovered” are easy to find. They are not hidden under a rock and avoid the spotlight. They strategically position themselves in the right places at the right time (in person and digitally).

On social media, companies don’t have to search high and low to find their contact information, and they don’t disable the DM feature (sometimes if your contact information is hidden, a recruiter will DM you)

4. Never stop growing

The people that are “in demand” and constantly get recruited are always assessing the demands of their industry, and do what they can to stay current on new skills.

They don’t wait for others to train them and show them how to do something. They take matters into their own hands because they know it’s their job to make sure they are always marketable.

Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.

Are you that lucky person who’s always getting noticed by companies?
